Water Heaters – How To Save Money

You may be worried about replacing your old water heater because you are not sure which one to buy. Another worry is the cost of replacing your existing model with a new one. They can be quite costly in comparison to other appliances within the home, but if you know the basics of what to look for you can drastically reduce these costs. Not only can you find a lower prices model than you were expecting, but you can also reduce your monthly utility bills too. It may sound too good to be true, but it isn’t as long as you remember a few guidelines when looking for a new emergency plumber brisbane.

You need to have a look at your existing model or get hold of the original manual if you still have it. As these appliances last for many years, it is unlikely that you still have the manual. Most heaters have a yellow sticker attached to the unit that specifies what type of unit it is and what fuel source it uses.

You need to check whether you have a gas or electric model. You also need to find out whether you have a tank or tankless unit installed. If it is a tank model, you also need to make a note of how much water it stores which will be specified in gallons.

Newer models are much more efficient at heating water, so you may not have to buy like for like. For example, you may have a 60 gallon tank installed, but you may now only have to buy a 40 gallon tank. This will save you a significant amount of money on a newer model. These larger gallon tanks are suitable for larger homes that require a high demand of hot water where washing machines and dishwashers are used in conjunction with family members taking a shower or bath. They are usually installed in homes with two or more bathrooms.

An alternative option is to buy a tankless water heater if your home has two or less bathrooms. These models do not store water and therefore they save a large amount of energy due to the fact that they supply hot water on demand. When you turn on the hot water tap, the tankless unit instantly heats the water to the desired temperature. They are also much smaller and can save you a significant amount of space within the home. If you do have three or more bathrooms, you can even connect two or more of these heaters together to supply enough hot water on demand.
